Prayer in the Night

Jesus woke me in the night from my dreaming state,
I asked him why he woke me because it was so late.
He said I need a person to talk to and confide,
To take a chance and listen and stay right by my side.
There are so many people that need an answered prayer,
I thought if you sat awhile their burdens we might share.
I told Him here I am Lord, whatever can I do,
Because you have my heart I’ll be glad to sit with you.
Let’s bow our heads together and pray for those we love,
And God our Heavenly Father will answer from above.
So we started praying for those without a home,
And those who find no rest wherever they may roam.
We prayed for those addicted to Satin’s evil ways,
And those that only cry throughout their lonely days.
We prayed for the broken hearted that they will find some hope,
And those that are so burdened they don’t know how to cope.
We prayed for the sick and dying that they will find true peace,
And that they cling to Christ and that their pain would cease.
We prayed for the little children that have no food to eat,
And all those that can’t afford shoes for on their feet.
We prayed for cancer victims that are fighting without end,
And that there will be someone to be their steadfast friend.
We prayed for those with money that their hearts be opened wide,
That they may use their wealth to put poverty aside.
We prayed for all the families, we prayed for all the earth,
We prayed for all the people to realize their worth.
We prayed for everything, we prayed the whole night through,
The very last prayer we prayed was the prayer we prayed for you.
I looked up and saw angels that took our prayers to God,
I know that He was listening as my head began to nod.
I saw my world so different my troubles are so small,
But I also learned that God will listen to them all.
As Jesus presence covered me and I fell to sleep again,
The time we spent in prayer can never really end.
There are so many people that need an answered prayer,
And all I have to do is ask if their burdens I might share.
